After the Senate killed the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 many were celebrating the victory thinking the threat of heavy handed gun controls imposed by our Federal overlords had passed, at least for the year. As I warned, it’s not over and we’re now facing new votes on those same bills in the Senate. They’re not dead, they’ve only been dormant until now.

Don’t forget what spawned the Senates over zealous attempt at a gun grab; the elementary school shooting now infamously known simply as “Sandy Hook”. A deranged man killed his mother, took her legally owned AR15 along with other firaerms and proceded to slaughter innocent children and teachers before taking his own life. Emotions were high all across the country after the shooting as people struggled to understand how someone could commit such an atrocity. Naturally, the conversation immediately turned to gun control as it always does… after all, if we banned guns people would stop killing other people because no one has ever committed a mass murder with a knife or anything.
One of the first organizations to publicly call for new gun controls after such a tragedy is the Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) founded by none other than Mr. Gungrabber himself, Mayor Bloomberg of NYC. The irony isn’t lost upon me that one of their members, Mayor James Schiliro, was recently arrested for using multiple firearms to intimidate a 20 year old man into having sex with him. Regardless, gun grabber groups such a MAIG know they have short windows of opportunity to capitalize on high profile shootings to push their agendas forward — they’ve admitted it. They’ve also continued to push for new controls, even after the initial losses in the Senate, with television ads and endless press releases and news conferences.
Right now there is a movement in the halls of the Senate to push forward with new gun controls. Many of you may find this unbelievable given public opinion polls consistently show Americans are opposed to new gun controls. However, these leeches of liberty aren’t to be dissuaded by what the people want, they have agendas to push forward and that’s exactly what they’re doing.
News reports are breaking that Senate gun grabbers are once again on the march being lead by the Democrat gun-grabbing wonderboy Joe Manchin who seems to think he has a “50/50 chance” of passing new gun controls this year. Given the spanking they received on the Assault Weapons Ban earlier this year, I’m sure they’ll focus on proposals that will be easier to push down our throats. Universal Background Checks (aka gun registration) is the most likely bill to be hurried through the Senate.
Joe Biden has also renewed his push for new gun controls.
Keep in mind these vultures lie in wait for new tragedies to occur so they can quickly pounce and make the most political hay of the tragedies. They did it after Sandy Hook and they’re bound to do it again… and just like the recent shooting in Santa Monica, another shooting will occur. It’s the unfortunate reality of living in a nation of 300+ million people with national media that runs amuck sensationalizing every tragedy they see with 24/7 coverage for weeks or months after the fact. They inspire the next lunatic hoping to grab their 15 minutes of fame.
We’ve had our break after celebrating our first victory of the year. But as I warned on the Military Arms Channel, we would have to remain politically vigilant to maintain our gun rights. Now is the time to fire up those email clients, fax machines (if you still own one of those dinosaurs) and phones. The push is on in the Senate to pass new laws and we need to meet them head on with a deafening wall of our voices reminding them if they attempt another gun grab we will vote them out.
